I’m relatable, caring and efficient in my sessions. I see each student as an individual and alter my sessions to ensure they not only improve their grades, but more importantly, their self-image and a sense of optimism for their future. I have a bachelor’s degree in food process engineering from the University of Wisconsin and I tutor grades 4-College.

My tutoring style:

I respond to each student as an individual. I relate with them, listen to them and ensure we accomplish a lot together. I have an infectious love of math and language, and always find common ground to partner with my students in achieving their goals.

Success story:

When I met Sam and realized we only had two weeks to achieve his highest score yet on any standardized test, I knew we had a challenge. We quickly discussed foundational strategies and got his utility belt stocked with tools and tips. We focused on core knowledge and how to decode the test: how to make sense of what's being asked and clearly determine the answer. Sam always felt like he was at a disadvantage when it came to math. He was determined, but needed support, guidance, and confidence to meet his goals. After working with Sam for two weeks, he exceeded his target score by 50 points and increased his score by 100 points overall!

While I enjoy helping students of all levels improve their scores and self-image, I especially enjoy assisting motivated and disciplined students. In the spring of 2023, I began working with Naomi, whose stated goal was to achieve a perfect score. Ordinarily I encourage students to focus on achieving their best potential (versus perfection), but her determination was strong. So we laid out a strategy for independent test-taking and focused our time together discussing incorrect responses and the general logic for justifying a correct response based on the evidence. When we started together, Naomi would get a few questions incorrect per module. We would discuss each instance, envisioning how the test-designer would prove their answer in a court of law. After a few months of lessons, she's learned how to gather this evidence independently with a laser-like, analytical approach. She's now completed three consecutive practice tests with no mistakes and time to spare! I'm so proud of the work Naomi has put in, and I look forward to helping others unlock their potential for greatness too.

Hobbies and interests:

I’m a musician who plays 14 orchestral instruments and has sung in choirs for many years. I’m an artist, chef and cat-lover. I rollerskate, kayak, bike and practice yoga. I enjoy the MCU, Survivor and traveling.
