Angela

I am a certified teacher and administrator with almost 30 years of experience in education. My classroom teaching experience ranges from early childhood to middle school, in both brick and mortar and virtual environments. My students have been located throughout the United States, China, and Vietnam. I have also instructed adults on the college level as well. I hold a bachelor's degree from South Carolina State University, a master's degree from the University of South Carolina, a second master's degree from Capella University and a doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University.

Tutoring Style

I am upbeat, enthusiastic and love to have fun. I like for students to feel comfortable with me, so it is important for me to know students' interests. I try to incorporate those into my instruction when possible. I like to break concepts down so that students will understand. Meeting students where they are is critical for their progression.

Success Story

Math

I tutored a student who was in the 4th grade when we began our sessions. During our very first session, I was able to teach her most of her multiplication facts in a way that she was able to retain them. She and her mother were amazed with my methods and ability to engage the student. I tutored that student until she was in her first year of high school!

Reading

I once tutored a kindergarten student who struggled in reading, was facing retention and was behind grade level. By the end of the school year, not only did he beat being retained, but he also was reading above grade level! I ended up working with the student into his middle school years, mainly for the purpose of staying ahead!
