I was a late bloomer and returned to college after my children were born. I completed my Bachelors in Biology and then earned my Ph.D. in Biology- Ecology and Evolution. I have taught high school in Florida and Indiana, and tutor high school and college.

Tutoring Style

I love science and often get excited teaching about a subject I love. I am patient and clear when tutoring and I ask my students questions to help me understand what they do and don't know. I use relatable examples and am always encouraging and upbeat. I have a lot of experience helping students learn and can easily change my approach to a mode that will help them learn best.

Success Story

Success can come in large and small forms and sometimes the smallest things can fill a huge hole. I recently taught a high school student how to read a chart. Nothing complicated, just explaining its construction and how to read across and down. But for him, we had solved a mystery and filled a big knowledge gap. He was thrilled! He started practicing on every chart he could find. That moment made me happy as well, because this skill would be applicable in every part of his life!

Hobbies & Interests

I love to write and I read a lot of sci-fi and fantasy (young adult). I enjoy hiking, I like rocks, I love everything biology/science. I have two dogs and a cat and I used to breed ball pythons.
