I am a certified teacher with 17 years of experience in classrooms teaching Math (Elementary, Middle, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2) to students of all ages. I also tutor elementary Science and ELA. I have a bachelor's degree from the University of South Florida and I tutor grades 2- 10.

Tutoring Style

I’m an enthusiastic and dedicated Math teacher, passionate about helping students understand and enjoy the subject. I teach Math at the elementary middle school and high school levels, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Algebra 2. I adapt my teaching style to suit each student’s needs—whether that means slowing down and repeating concepts or advancing quickly to match their level. I make sure students master each topic by reviewing thoroughly until they achieve strong, confident understanding.

Success Story

Math:

One of my favorite success stories is when I helped a high school freshman turn things around in her Algebra 1 class. She came to me mid-semester, overwhelmed and failing with a grade of 62%. She lacked confidence and was struggling with foundational concepts like solving equations and working with linear functions. We began meeting three times a week, and I broke down the material into manageable steps, reinforcing key concepts through practice and repetition. By the end of the semester, she had not only passed the class but finished with a solid A. More importantly, she gained confidence in her math skills and went on to succeed in Algebra 2 the following year.

Elementary Science:

As a science tutor, I had the opportunity to work with an elementary student who was struggling with basic science concepts and lacked confidence in their abilities. From our first session, I focused on creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, using interactive activities, simple explanations, and real-life examples to make the material more relatable. Over time, I noticed a remarkable shift—the student became more curious, started asking thoughtful questions, and began to approach science with enthusiasm rather than hesitation. One of the highlights was seeing the student complete a hands-on project with pride and present it confidently at school. Watching their growth, both academically and personally, was incredibly fulfilling and reminded me of the impact that one-on-one support can have on a student's learning journey.

Reading Comprehension:

As a reading comprehension tutor for an elementary student, I worked with a learner who found it difficult to understand and retain information from texts. They often read fluently but struggled to answer questions or make connections with what they had read. I focused on building foundational skills through guided reading, interactive discussions, and strategies like summarizing, predicting, and using context clues. Slowly but surely, the student began to engage more deeply with the material, showing improved understanding and greater confidence in expressing their thoughts. A turning point came when they completed a short chapter book independently and enthusiastically discussed the characters and plot with me. Seeing their growth—from hesitant reader to confident storyteller—was incredibly rewarding and reinforced the importance of personalized, consistent support in building literacy skills.

Hobbies & Interests

When I’m not tutoring, I’m usually busy chasing after my energetic 6-year-old! I enjoy shopping, decorating, organizing spaces, and spending time outside working in my flower beds. I love anything that lets me be creative or get a little fresh air. These hobbies keep me balanced and bring joy to my everyday life.
