I am a dedicated Pre-Algebra teacher for grades 6–8 at the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I tutor Math from elementary through high school. I have also taught Adult ESL for both beginning and advanced English learners. With over eight years of experience working in education, my core strengths lie in Mathematics and English.
I specialize in helping students strengthen foundational skills, close learning gaps, and unlock their full potential. Whether guiding students through Math problem-solving or enhancing reading, writing, and communication skills, I design engaging, individualized lessons that make learning both meaningful and results-driven.
I also have extensive experience teaching ELA to students across all ages and proficiency levels, including Resource, ELL, ESL, mainstream, and B1 learners.

My tutoring style:

My tutoring style centers on understanding the learner—recognizing preferences, strengths, and weaknesses—and building upon prior knowledge and experiences. My approach combines structure, creativity, and consistency to help students build both skill and confidence.

In Math, I emphasize mastering fundamentals and problem-solving strategies. I encourage a mindset that embraces challenges and learns through failure. Confidence in learning is built, not given—true growth comes from practice, dedication, patience, and the willingness to learn.

For ELA, I focus on developing strong reading and writing habits through consistent practice. I believe that exposure to quality reading and writing directly shapes a person into a better reader, writer, and communicator. I also specialize in phonetics, grammar drills, and real-world application scenarios that make language come alive.

Success story:

Math:

I have had many great experiences in my career, but my personal success story has to be about a troubled student who was never truly responsive or engaged in studying math. I worked with this student for an entire school year and it was extremely challenging. Her grades and attitude in other classes were not great. She needed to pass her classes to gain the credits to graduate middle school and transition into high school.

In the last 4 months of the school year, she decided to give her best efforts towards learning and passing my class. She started to come before and after school to get extra help. These were the times she realized that if she just tried and dedicated herself, then the possibilities were endless. She slowly but steadily completed her work and brought her grades up to ultimately pass the final semester. What really makes this story so memorable is the fact that this student started to bring her friends in for extra help and collaboration. I witnessed this student become a leader and I will always treasure moments like this one.

Another one of my most memorable success stories involved an 8th-grade student who was struggling to pass math. Throughout the year, she began coming in before and after school for extra help and gradually built confidence through persistence and practice. By year’s end, she not only passed but started encouraging her classmates to do the same—emerging as a leader in the process.

ELA:

In ELA, I worked with a 16-year-old student who struggled to structure essays and develop a clear thesis statement. Through targeted practice in organization, grammar, and flow, he learned to approach writing with purpose and confidence. Over time, his essays became well-structured and expressive, reflecting both critical thinking and creativity.

I also worked with a 26-year-old adult ESL learner aiming to improve academic writing for college. At first, he struggled to organize his thoughts and develop cohesive paragraphs. With consistent feedback, modeling, and revision exercises, his writing improved dramatically—culminating in a well-crafted five-paragraph essay. His growth reaffirmed that learning has no age limit and that effort and guidance can unlock anyone’s potential.
