I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Biology and specialize in Math subjects including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, and Trigonometry, and Science subjects including General Chemistry I & II, and Biology (grades 8–12). I’m passionate about helping students build confidence and master challenging topics through clear explanations and personalized support. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy exploring different cultures through food and community activities, which helps me connect with students from all backgrounds.
My tutoring style is hybrid and subject-specific, designed to build both understanding and confidence. For Chemistry and Mathematics, I focus more heavily on demonstration—modeling problems and methods—then invite students to walk me through a problem themselves, reinforcing learning through active practice. In Biology, I begin as a demonstrator, clearly explaining key concepts and processes, then shift into a facilitator role to engage the student in discussion and assess their grasp of the material. Sessions are casual and conversational, creating a comfortable space where students feel encouraged to ask questions and think critically, without the pressure of a rigid classroom setting.
This past school year, I had the opportunity to work with a home-schooled student who faced significant challenges in math and science, largely due to struggles with ADHD. When we began, the student had a 26% in math and an 11% in science, and was often overwhelmed by incomplete assignments and difficulty staying on task. By creating a structured yet flexible tutoring environment—with clear goals, frequent check-ins, and a relaxed, discussion-based approach—we were able to build the student’s confidence and focus. Through consistent support and patient instruction, the student finished the semester with an 83% in math and a 70% in science—a truly impressive turnaround that reflected both their hard work and the power of personalized learning.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy staying active through outdoor activities like biking and camping during the summer months and skiing in the winter. I’m also passionate about lifelong learning and love spending time in museums of natural history, art, and science. These experiences deepen my appreciation for the subjects I teach and bring fresh perspectives into my sessions. Whether outdoors or exploring exhibits, I’m always curious and eager to learn something new.
