I am a tutor with 5 years of experience teaching science, math, and English at the middle school, high school, and college level. I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and am a current medical student.
I am a very passionate and energetic student who loves motivating students to master content. I am very flexible with my teaching style; I set up my first session as a way to get to know students, and identify their needs and learning styles. I believe that rote memorization may not always help students. I incorporate different methods to make sure key concepts will stick for longterm, stronger learning.
I am very happy to share a story of a student I helped. This student struggled with dyscalculia, and so had a hard time in Algebra 2. Standard ways of learning were not going to help him. I found ways to connect to him as a person, so he could trust me. From there, I would see him 1-2 times a week, going slowly with content so he could fully grasp it. I made sure to focus on him understanding the content so he could succeed. I am happy to say he was able to pass Algebra 2, in spite of his challenges, and was empowered to keep pushing as he started senior year!
I LOVE cooking! My wife and I are currently on a challenge to cook food from every country in the world. We are currently 30 nations or so down that list! I also love reading, playing the djembe, swimming, and playing music.
