I started teaching test prep classes just over 20 years ago to help pay for my degrees in Accounting, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, and an MBA. After a short stint in banking, I returned to the classroom as a High School Mathematics Teacher. A few years later and after observing the difficulty of SAT, I opened a student center in Winter Park, Florida, where we focused on test prep, homeschool support, and tutoring. In 2015, I moved my business online, so I could better function as a single father to my two amazing daughters. And for the past 10 years, I’ve continued my work with test prep and tutoring services.
Through the years, I have helped over 1000 students reach their academic and collegiate goals, including dozens of National Merit Scholars, hundreds of Bright Futures Scholars, and tons of graduate school inductees. I have a proactive approach to test prep. I focus not only on the content on each exam, but also the methodology and techniques necessary to beat these tests. I teach from the test writer’s perspective. I show my students how to effectively: use answer choices; focus on the important parts of the questions; and minimize the time spent on reading or problem-solving. As each test has evolved, my programs have changed with them. Today, I love working with Learner and the Lessonspace platform in order to bring the best product to my clients and help my students reach their full potentials.
I have several success stories through the years: many of my SAT students have earned the National Merit Scholarship with test scores in the top 1%. However, one of my favorite success stories is when I led a small class of determined “underprivileged kids” to an average test score in the top 10%.
I like to do a lot of things: I cook, garden, and work out at the gym regularly. I also enjoy playing basketball, golf, or anything competitive at the beach or in the backyard. Most of all, I like hanging out with my family.
