I have years of teaching and tutoring experience, amassing over 7,000 hours of practical engagement both in classroom settings and through private instruction. I have an M.Ed. in Science Education from Boston University and I tutor grades K-College.

My teaching style is tailored to each student's unique needs, allowing me to adjust the pace and level of instruction accordingly. Whether it means taking things slowly and reiterating concepts or challenging students to reach their potential, I am fully committed to their success. To solidify understanding, I employ a comprehensive approach that includes rigorous drilling and repeated exposure, ensuring not only concept mastery but also effective test-taking strategies that lead to confident, successful outcomes for all my students.

Success stories:

Emily, an aspiring biologist with a heart for environmental science, was grappling with the scientific reasoning section of the ACT. Her meticulous nature often led her into the labyrinth of overthinking, stunting her ability to decipher complex experimental designs. Understanding her individual needs, I crafted personalized approaches for her that became the cornerstone of her test prep journey. With Emily, we repeatedly practiced a variety of test-taking strategies to hone her ability to target the relevant information needed to address each question type included in experimental design passages. The months rolled on, and the progress became evident. Emily's Science ACT scores witnessed a meteoric rise of 7 points; her once-convoluted scientific reasoning is now a playground for her analytical mind. Her story reminds me that tutoring is a collaborative dance. I'll always cherish the laughter that followed Emily's recognition of recurring question types.

Liam, an aspiring political science student, was determined to excel in the SAT's language and writing components but struggled with the math section of the exam, leading to a significant discrepancy between section scores.  Recognizing Liam’s proficiency in reading, I employed visual learning aids in math. Graphs, diagrams, and visual explanations were integrated into lessons to enhance comprehension and comfort in dealing with struggling math concepts.  Liam’s SAT math scores alone surged by 110 points, each point a testament to his newfound confidence and understanding of foundational math topics. I will always remember Liam’s observations of “I see it now!” that accompanied his improved understanding of critical math topics.

Hobbies and interests:

Beyond tutoring, I find great joy in indulging my passions for reading, cooking, and traveling. When reading, I thoroughly enjoy learning from modern philosophers, delving into the intricacies of classical literature from the Victorian era, and immersing myself in gothic and psychological thrillers. And when in the kitchen, I typically find myself exploring and tinkering with pasta-based recipes. That said, I am always open to trying out new dishes and cuisines, especially in my travels. Immersing myself in another country’s culture through its food is one of the great joys I yearn for every time I travel.
