I began my tutoring journey as a middle school student tutoring high school Algebra in 2000. Over the years, I have tutored a wide range of mathematics courses and helped students prepare for standardized tests. I have a bachelor's degree from Southern University at New Orleans and I tutor grades 3-College.
My tutoring style tends to vary, depending on the student. The one consistency is establishing that foundational understanding has been met. If met with a student that has a gap within the learning of a concept, I pause the current lesson to quickly show the student prior concepts that lead to where we are.
I've had many students consider me a lifesaver while tutoring in university, as they would require the Calculus class to graduate but were failing before reaching out to me. One of such students recognized me out in public years later and thanked me for my part in helping them go on to grad school. I didn't have the heart to say that I didn't remember him, but it definitely made my day better.
