I am an experienced full-time tutor and former mathematics teacher who has been helping students achieve their academic goals since 2015. Since 2020, I have specialized exclusively in online tutoring, providing personalized instruction designed to help students improve their test scores, strengthen their academic skills, and approach important exams with confidence. Over the past decade, I have worked with more than 1,200 students, with a strong focus on standardized test preparation, including the SAT, ACT, and ASVAB. My background in mathematics and writing allows me to support students across multiple sections of these exams, helping them strengthen their quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, grammar, and analytical skills. My approach to test preparation goes beyond reviewing academic content. I emphasize effective test-taking strategies, time management, question analysis, and targeted practice to help students identify areas for improvement and maximize their performance. Whether a student is working to raise an existing score, overcome challenges in a particular section, or prepare for an exam for the first time, I tailor each session to their individual strengths, needs, and goals. I believe successful test preparation requires both a strong understanding of the material and the confidence to apply that knowledge under exam conditions. My goal is to equip students with the skills, strategies, and problem-solving techniques they need to perform at their best and take meaningful steps toward their academic and career aspirations.

Tutoring Style

My tutoring style is patient, precise, and focused on helping students develop a genuine understanding of the material. I believe effective instruction goes beyond simply showing students how to solve a problem. It involves helping them understand why each step works and how different concepts connect, allowing them to build stronger reasoning and problem-solving skills.

I strive to create a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions at any time. I recognize that learning is a process, and I am always willing to revisit concepts, provide alternative explanations, and reinforce challenging topics as often as necessary to ensure students develop a thorough understanding.

Above all, I recognize that every student is unique, with their own personality, strengths, and learning preferences. I tailor my approach to each individual, encouraging students to express themselves, participate actively, and learn in ways that feel natural and engaging to them.

My ultimate goal is to help students build confidence, strengthen their understanding, and become independent learners who feel empowered to approach academic challenges with curiosity and determination.

Success Story

One of my favorite SAT tutoring success stories involves a student who initially doubted his ability to significantly improve his score. When we began working together, he had earned a 1220 on the SAT and was particularly frustrated by the reading comprehension passages and questions involving standard English conventions.

During our early sessions, he was skeptical that he could retain the grammar rules and test-taking strategies we were reviewing. I focused on helping him recognize patterns in questions, strengthen his reading comprehension, and apply practical grammar and test-taking strategies that would make challenging questions more manageable.

As we continued working together, he began to recognize his progress. His practice test scores steadily improved, and with each improvement, his confidence grew. What initially felt overwhelming became increasingly approachable as he learned to apply the strategies independently.

When he retook the SAT, he achieved an outstanding 1440 composite score—a 220-point improvement! Watching him move from skepticism and frustration to confidence and success was incredibly rewarding. His experience reinforced my belief that targeted preparation, consistent practice, and effective test-taking strategies can make a meaningful difference in a student's performance.

Hobbies & Interests

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy staying informed about current events and societal issues through podcasts, online articles, and thoughtful discussions. I'm also a passionate NBA basketball fan and love following live games, exploring player statistics and historical records, learning about the league's history, and revisiting classic games on YouTube. In the evenings, I enjoy spending quality time with my spouse, whether we're testing our knowledge while watching Jeopardy!, getting immersed in a British mystery or detective series, or discovering interesting videos that reflect our shared interests. I appreciate activities that spark curiosity, encourage learning, and provide opportunities to relax and connect with others.
