I am a Yale University graduate with an Intensive Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and over eleven years of tutoring experience, having logged more than 4,500 instructional hours helping students strengthen their academic skills and achieve meaningful score improvements on standardized tests. I have worked with organizations for gifted students and higher learning specializing in SAT and ACT preparation for students from middle school through college level. My approach combines individualized instruction with data-driven analysis to build both academic mastery and long-term confidence.
My tutoring style is adaptive, patient, and results-oriented, grounded in the belief that every student learns differently and deserves instruction tailored to their individual needs. I begin each relationship with diagnostic assessments to understand a student’s strengths, challenges, and learning preferences, then design targeted lessons that build both mastery and confidence. My approach emphasizes accuracy over speed—I would rather see a student complete fewer problems correctly using proper strategies than rush through many with inconsistent results. I believe in the power of data-driven instruction, regularly tracking progress and adjusting methods based on what the evidence shows is most effective. Above all, I view teaching as both a science and an art, combining structured, evidence-based techniques with empathy and genuine connection to help students not only improve their scores but also develop lasting academic independence and self-belief.
Math:
One of my favorite math tutoring success stories involved a middle school student who was struggling with fractions and multi-step word problems. When we began working together, he often felt overwhelmed and avoided showing his work, which made it hard for him to identify where mistakes were happening. Over several months, we focused on visual models, step-by-step problem solving, and building number sense so he could approach problems more confidently. By the end of the semester, he had raised his math grade from a C to an A- and began volunteering to explain his solutions in class, which was a huge boost to his confidence.
ELA:
One of my favorite ELA tutoring success stories involved a high school junior who struggled to organize his ideas and often received low marks on essays in his English class. When we began working together, we focused on outlining, building clear thesis statements, and strengthening paragraph structure and evidence. Over the course of a semester, his essays became more focused and persuasive, and his grade improved to an A-. By the end of the year, he felt confident enough in his writing to apply to several competitive colleges and was admitted to one of his top choices.
I love learning about ancient civilizations, computer programming, screenwriting, watching my favorite shows, and reading.
