I am a general chemistry tutor with more than 4 years of experience in classroom and online tutoring. I have a bachelor's degree from Niagara University (honors) and I tutor grades 11-College.
I am a reliable tutor who is passionate about the topics I teach. I readily adapt my teaching style to meet the individual needs of my student. I excel at boiling down hard concepts into simpler ones for my students to understand and appreciate the content they are learning. I am very patient when I am asked to repeat myself if needed. I like to test my student's understanding of concept by quizzing them shortly after I deliver the content and often ask them to see if they are following along what I teach.
When I was a junior at college, I had a student who was found to be drowsy in class and unfocused most of the times. I stayed late after one tutoring session where it was just this student and me to keep this confidential for the student and so as not to make him feel uncomfortable. I asked him calmly what was going on in his life and that his behavior in tutoring session was not appropriate. I assured him I was there to help and support him if needed. He explained to me his situation and I understood what was going on. I gently reminded him to take the steps to be successful in this class that was also sensitive to his needs. He took my advice and I started seeing improvements in his behavior, where he was attentive in tutoring sessions and giving correct answers to my questions, overall more focused. I learned from this that things that go on in a student's life greatly affects their academic ability and it's important for the tutor to be kind and treat the student they are working with as a whole person, not just another student to tutor.
When I am not tutoring, I love reading, walking in nature, cooking and creating content for my business projects.
