I am a dual certified special education and general education teacher for over five years. I am certified in the state New York and attended and received my bachelor's degree in New York. I have been tutoring remotely for 4 years now with grades K-12.

Tutoring Style

My main goal is to get to know each individual student and their likes. It is important to implement a student's likes and interest in our lesson whenever possible! If you like sports, video games or anything, however I can incorporate that into an engaging tutoring session, I will always do my best to do so!

Success Story

Math:

While working as a K-8 SETSS provider, I had a caseload of over 20 students. One student entered our school in the beginning of 8th grade. This student began at the school and was struggling in math, and failing all his tests. As soon as the student was added to my caseload, it became apparent math was an area of struggle for reasons other’s may not have considered.  After a few sessions, my student expressed at his last school he was performing much better and felt incapable. After discussing how he learned in his previous school, it was clear he needed much more visual and tactile support. Which, in Algebra can become difficult with working on equations and expressions.

We worked together to come up with ways to make the lessons more digestible by adding more visual supports of videos, PowerPoints and guided practice with “fill-in” the blanks. Over the school year, he progressed so well and was prepared for the regents by the end of the school year.

ELA:

One of my favorite student success stories is my student who I met in kindergarten during COVID. She was struggling not only academically but behaviorally. She was struggling with her letters and words. This carried her to the following grade. We spent 3 hours a day, five days a week in the summer. Not only working on her academically, but behaviorally. During the time, getting to better know her outside of school, once noticing the behavioral stemmed from her feeling "unable to read and talk" like her friends, we spent years also focusing on her confidence. Now she is able to read, write, spell well above grade level after 3 years of working closely together. She no longer needs her IEP and services at this time, too!

Hobbies & Interests

Hiking, biking, spending time with family and friends. I enjoy attending concerts, going to the gym and being there for all my little sister's never ending sports games!
