Charissa

I am an experienced K–12 tutor with several years of experience helping students strengthen their skills in math, reading, writing, science, and test preparation. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University and have worked with students in both one-on-one and small-group settings. I also have experience preparing students for the SAT and ACT and supporting learners with a wide range of academic needs.

Tutoring Style

My tutoring style is patient, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s individual learning needs. I break challenging concepts into manageable steps and use examples, practice problems, visuals, and real-world connections to make the material easier to understand. I regularly check for understanding and adjust my approach when a student needs additional explanation or a different strategy. My goal is not only to improve academic performance, but also to help students become more confident and independent learners.

Success Story

One of my favorite test-prep success stories was helping a student improve their SAT score from approximately 1100 to 1450. We focused on identifying weak areas, learning efficient problem-solving strategies, improving pacing, and practicing under timed conditions. Watching the student become more confident while achieving such a significant score increase was incredibly rewarding and reinforced how much targeted, consistent preparation can make a difference.

Hobbies & Interests

When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy traveling, fashion, beauty and skincare, technology, and creating content. I also love trying new restaurants, attending events, spending time with friends and family, and exploring new places. I’m naturally creative and enjoy learning new things, especially when it comes to technology and digital media. I also love a good conversation and finding fun ways to connect with people!
