I have a degree in Microbiology and have been tutoring for over 20 years. Over these years I have tutored students from grade 4 to grade 12 in Math and Science. I have tutored students in person and online. I am very comfortable in a virtual tutoring environment. Throughout these years, I have had the opportunity to work with students at different learning levels.

Tutoring Style

As a tutor I believe that every student learns differently and I adapt my tutoring style accordingly. If my students have skill gaps I make sure the address them before covering content for the current grade level. I am committed to making my students achieve their academic goals whether it is passing a test or getting a perfect score. By nature, I am calm and patient focusing on student engagement and great learning outcomes.

Success Story

Math:

A student I tutored in high school who was failing in Algebra seemed extremely disinterested in her work. On asking her she told me she felt Math was a waste of time as she wanted to be a beautician. I told her we all need some Math always - accounting for our business ventures, understanding our mortgage statements, investment decisions. Soon I found a change, she was focused in class, we worked hard on her skill gaps and the curriculum and passed the class. She showed all around academic improvement in other subjects as well. I was so glad she succeeded in reaching her academic goals.

Science:

In Science, I once worked with a student who was trying really hard in class but was not getting the desired results. We were working on writing chemical formulas in Chemistry. I realized my student did not have concepts like an understanding of elements and symbols, valency, polyatomic ions, etc. which are all crucial to writing formulas correctly. We went back and revisited all those concepts and the student caught up on what was being done in class.

Hobbies & Interests

When I am not tutoring, I absolutely love cooking! My other hobby is painting especially fabric painting. Yoga and nutrition are my other 2 interests that I follow closely.
