I am a certified educator with over 20 years of experience in academic coaching, test preparation, and instructional leadership. I hold a master’s degree in education and have directed learning centers, led ACT/SAT programs, and partnered with universities to support student success. My approach blends personalized instruction, consultative communication, and a deep commitment to student growth. I tutor Math, Social Studies, and Test Prep for middle and high school students.
My tutoring style is strategic, student-centered, and emotionally attuned. I tailor each session to the student’s learning style and goals, using diagnostic insights to guide instruction and pacing. I emphasize clarity, encouragement, and consistent review to build confidence and mastery. Whether coaching for rapid test score improvement or long-term academic growth, I create a supportive environment that fosters motivation and measurable progress.
Math
One of my students had never earned higher than a C+ in math and felt defeated before we even began Algebra II. It quickly became clear that she needed to revisit foundational Algebra concepts before moving forward. We essentially retaught Algebra from the ground up, using step‑by‑step explanations, visual aids, and plenty of guided practice to rebuild her confidence. Once the basics clicked, she was able to approach new material with clarity and independence. By the end of the first semester, she had raised her grade to an A, and she maintained that level of achievement for the entire year. Watching her shift from frustration to pride in her math abilities was incredibly rewarding.
Social Studies
Another one of my students came to me overwhelmed by the sheer volume of reading, note‑taking, and essay writing required in AP U.S. History. He was struggling to keep up with the workload and felt discouraged by the complexity of the content. Together, we built a structured study plan that broke down the material into manageable sections, emphasized thematic connections across units, and practiced timed essay writing with clear outlines. By focusing on both comprehension and confidence, he not only earned an A on his final exam but also achieved a score of 4 on the AP U.S. History Exam. His success was a testament to how strategic organization and guided practice can transform a daunting subject into an area of strength.
Test Prep
One of my favorite success stories is working with a high school student who started with an 850 SAT score and very little confidence. Through personalized instruction, strategic review, and consistent encouragement, we built both skill and self-belief over the course of several months. On test day, he walked in with calm focus and walked out with a 1250 official score—a 400-point gain that opened up new college opportunities. Watching his transformation was a powerful reminder of how the right support can unlock a student’s potential.
When I’m not tutoring, I love spending time with my grandchildren and caring for our rescue dogs—they keep life joyful and full of surprises. I also enjoy reading across genres and cooking meals that bring people together. These hobbies help me stay grounded, creative, and connected, which I bring into my teaching as well.
