I earned my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from California State University, and I have 10 years of experience working one-on-one as a math tutor, spanning 5 years teaching in person and 5 years specializing in the online classroom.
Over the years, I have realized that students don't hate math; they hate feeling lost. In our sessions, I don't just lecture or hand out answers. Instead, I act like a translator. If class notes don't make sense, we try a step-by-step puzzle approach for complex Algebra equations.
When a high school geometry student first showed up to our online sessions, he literally stood at a distance from the computer, completely disengaged. To build a bridge, I partnered closely with his mother to understand the curriculum topics while dedicating myself to earning his trust through patience, custom-made assignments, and instant email feedback. Slowly, his hesitation turned into confidence as he proudly began sharing his test preparation materials during our positive, encouraging lessons. By the end of the term, we didn't just break down his walls—we built a lasting mentorship as we successfully worked together on his Algebra 2 class last semester.
When I am not tutoring, you can usually find me enjoying morning walks or biking with my husband on warm days. In the kitchen, I love making dinners special by trying new recipes and spending time baking. My favorite moments are when my four-year-old grandson visits—he is my enthusiastic little helper who loves to stir everything we bake!
