I am a certified teacher in Texas with more than 30 years of experience in education. I earned my Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Houston and spent 11 years as a campus administrator. After stepping away from administration, I realized how much I missed working directly with students and returned to teaching through online education. I have more than 20 years of experience teaching math, with much of my background focused on middle school mathematics. Although my husband and I retired in 2025, I have continued tutoring online because I truly enjoy helping students strengthen their math skills and build confidence.

Tutoring Style

I love helping students understand math and recognize that they are capable of succeeding! I believe every student can make progress, and I work to identify the individual support, strategies, and foundational skills each student needs to be successful.

When teaching math, I focus on both the “how” and the “why” behind each concept so students develop a deeper understanding and are better able to retain and apply what they learn. Because math builds on previous concepts, I also make it a priority to identify and strengthen any gaps in foundational skills.

My tutoring sessions are never simply “sit and get.” Students are actively involved throughout each session, working through problems, explaining their thinking, asking questions, and developing the confidence and independence they need to succeed in math.

Success Stories

My favorite success stories are the moments when students finally understand a concept that once felt challenging. I have had countless students tell me, “I finally get it!” and seeing that light-bulb moment is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

One moment that especially stands out happened during an online tutoring session with a student who had been struggling to understand the Pythagorean theorem in their math class. During our session, the student sent me a message in the chat saying that they finally understood it and thanked me for helping everything click. Watching a student move from confusion and frustration to understanding and confidence is priceless. Those moments remind me why I love tutoring and helping students recognize that they are capable of succeeding in math.

Hobbies & Interests

My husband and I love traveling together and exploring new places. Some of our favorite vacations involve scuba diving or motorcycle trips. I don’t ride my own motorcycle—I’m perfectly happy sitting on the back and enjoying the ride! We also enjoy staying active, living a healthy lifestyle, and spending time with our family, especially our three precious granddaughters. In my spare time, I’m also making an effort to read more.

On a personal note, we live in Bandera, Texas, which is known as the Cowboy Capital of the World! We may not have a horse, but we love the peace and quiet and enjoy calling it home.
