Hello! I’m Teacher Melissa, and I live in Chicago, the Windy City. I have been married for 12 years and have two children and a pet fish. I have worked in the field of education for 13 years, beginning my career as a high school Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. For the past seven years, I have also had the opportunity to teach students online. I truly enjoy teaching and tutoring and especially love helping students grow their skills and confidence in math, English, and science.

Success Stories

When working with a student who struggled with foundational reading, I implemented structured lessons from the UFLI Foundations program to target their specific decoding and phonemic awareness gaps. We began each session with daily phoneme-graphemic drills, reading warm ups, and activities to help with tricky sound-spelling patterns. Over time, this approach helped with their overall reading and spelling confidence.
