I am a big math nerd with over 15 years of experience tutoring and teaching middle school and high school-aged students. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Western Governors University. I specialize in building relationships with students so that I can personalize my instruction and help them build confidence while meeting/exceeding their academic goals

Tutoring Style

I truly believe that ALL students are capable of learning math, and I tailor my instruction to help each student discover how they learn best. I strive to make math fun, engaging, and approachable by explaining concepts in a variety of ways. I use different examples and perspectives so that each student can find an approach that truly clicks for them. I also like to connect math to everyday life and help students recognize that math is all around us. My goal is to build both understanding and confidence while helping students discover that they ARE capable of enjoying and succeeding in math.

Success Stories

One of my favorite tutoring success stories was a student I worked with in Algebra 2 who was struggling, failing tests, and unable to bring his grade up to a passing level. Over several weeks, I focused not only on the math but also on building a strong working relationship and earning his trust. As his confidence and skills grew, he began to understand the material, participate more actively, and even enjoy what he was learning. By the end of the semester, he had raised his grade from failing to an A-, which was incredibly rewarding for both of us.

Hobbies & Interests

Outside of teaching and tutoring math, I enjoy a variety of hands-on and outdoor activities, including restoring classic cars, woodworking, hiking, kayaking, and rock hounding. My absolute favorite hobby is pickleball! My wife and I play as often as we possibly can, and we recently won our first silver medal at a local tournament! I enjoy the combination of fun, strategy, and problem-solving that pickleball offers. Those same qualities are ones that I enjoy bringing to my approach to teaching math.
