I have a PhD in Mathematics from UCLA and have been tutoring math and physics since 2014. I also spent a decade teaching in college classrooms, bringing extensive academic and instructional experience to every session.

Tutoring Style

My philosophy is that it is the student’s job to make mistakes, and the teacher’s job to make the student comfortable enough to make them. I focus on encouraging independent growth and developing the confidence to persevere without giving up. With that confidence, students can ask questions, engage deeply, and truly master the subject.

Success Story

One of my favorite success stories was working with a student who had fallen significantly behind after missing several months of school due to a concussion. She needed to pass Algebra to graduate, and when we first started, she was overwhelmed and lacking confidence in her ability to catch up.

We worked consistently together, reviewing foundational concepts, breaking down difficult problems step by step, and rebuilding her confidence in math. Through hard work and persistence, she not only caught up in the course but earned a B+ on her final exam and successfully graduated.

Experiences like this are why I love tutoring — helping students realize they are capable of more than they think. I’ve also had similar success supporting students in science courses by strengthening foundational understanding and building confidence in challenging material.

Hobbies & Interests

When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy knitting and spending time with my cats, who always try to play with the yarn.
