I am a CRLA certified tutor and math professor with more than a decade of experience teaching and tutoring in and out of the classroom. I hold a master's degree in engineering from the University of Florida, and I tutor 11th grade through undergraduate math courses.
I am an enthusiastic, easygoing teacher who likes to bring her problem solving skills to the classroom. I seek to make the subject matter accessible to students by drawing connections between core principles and example problems. I tailor my approach to the student with the understanding that there is no one fixed way to develop mathematical reasoning skills without relying on rote memorization.
I once encountered a student at the end of a semester in which they failed college algebra before seeking out help. After reviewing some of their mistakes on the final, they resolved to take the class again, and sought tutoring from the very beginning. For three to five sessions a week, I watched this student grow in their confidence and skill, until by the end of the semester, they were handling the material with confidence. After getting an A on the final, the student remarked that they never thought they'd be so comfortable with math, but my teaching style had really helped them. The student went on to transfer to the University of Florida with great confidence in their ability.
Creative writing, sequential artistry (comics and graphic novels), tabletop RPGs like dungeons and dragons, and collecting whatever strange hobbies cross my path.
