I am a certified science teacher with six years of classroom experience and an additional four years of volunteering in schools. I hold a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in teaching, and I tutor science for grades 6th - 12th. I specialize in making complex concepts clear and helping students build confidence in their learning.
I create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My approach is flexible, adapting lessons to each student’s learning style and pace while connecting topics to real-world examples. I focus on building strong foundational understanding and reinforcing concepts through practice and review, ensuring students gain both mastery and confidence.
While teaching Honors Biology, I had a student who was adjusting to her first advanced course when she broke her dominant hand, causing her to fail her first test. She began meeting with me before school for extra review, and together we rebuilt her confidence and raised her grades to consistent B’s, culminating in a passing score on the state biology assessment. Years later, she told me her success in my class inspired her to pursue a career as an ultrasound technician.
When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy spending time with my baby, watching sports—especially football and college basketball—and being outdoors. I love combining my interests in nature and activity, whether it’s a walk in the park, gardening, or just enjoying the fresh air.
