I’m a certified educator with over a decade of experience tutoring Math and ELA at the elementary, secondary, and college levels. Previously, I worked as the Site Supervisor of a K-12 learning center right outside of New York City where my specialty was test prep- and making learning fun!

I see myself as more of a coach or guide, helping students navigate the twisty paths of understanding. Along the way, I equip them with a full toolbox of strategies, skills, and confidence -- everything they need to tackle challenges, solve problems, and keep moving forward.
Math:
My math students have the advantage of learning from someone who didn’t naturally connect with the subject when I was younger. Thankfully, through exploring new ways to approach teaching math, I’ve developed a genuine appreciation for numbers. While I’ve had many successes helping struggling students reach that “a-ha” moment, I’ve had just as much success working with students who want to strengthen their competitive math skills. One student, an ever-diligent middle schooler named Jay, was especially persistent while working through questions for an upcoming Math Olympiad. The look on his face when he told me he’d spent 30 minutes on a single problem, only for me to show him it could be solved in a fraction of that time, was absolutely priceless. Moments like that are why I love teaching; I want to give every student that same feeling of clarity, confidence, and excitement.
ELA:
My ELA students often come to me with the belief that classic literature is “too hard” or “too old” to enjoy. One student in particular, a bright, thoughtful ninth grader named Elise, used to sigh the moment she saw anything written before the 1900s. The language felt dense to her, the sentences overly formal, and she struggled to find the emotional thread that tied it all together. As we worked through different strategies- breaking passages into manageable parts, modernizing the phrasing, connecting themes to her own experiences- something started to shift. Though Elise still isn’t one to say she loves reading, the fact that she thought Jane Eyre “wasn’t too bad” certainly feels like quite the win!
