I have over 21 years of experience teaching mathematics, and I've had the privilege of working with students from 95 different countries. I am currently based in the United States, where I continue my mission of making mathematics less intimidating, more meaningful, and when possible a little fun. I like to bring humor into my teaching. I have master's degree in mathematics and in education. I tutor grade 5-College 1 level.
In my classroom, I use a range of teaching techniques to make learning effective. I rely on scaffolding, which basically means I don't throw students into the deep end of a problem and say "good luck." Instead, I break complex ideas into smaller, manageable steps so confidence builds naturally like climbing stairs, not jumping off cliffs. I strongly believe in connecting mathematics to real-life applications. I also use visual representations like diagrams, models, and videos, because sometimes a well-drawn image explains more than ten minutes of talking (and definitely fewer confused faces).
One student joined my class who was good at mathematics but had never studied math in English before. Because of the language barrier, the student was getting low grades even though he understood mathematics well. I supported him by giving him a glossary of math terms before class so he could translate them into Spanish, and he also used a Spanish–English dictionary. With regular effort and support, he overcame the language barrier and scored a 6 in the final IB exam.
I enjoy power lifting and body building
