I am a certified teacher with 19 years of experience. My experience consists of teaching music and math to primarily middle and high school students. I have a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Alabama, a master’s degree from Auburn University, and a PhD from Georgia State University and I primarily tutor middle and high school students.

Tutoring Style

I am a passionate math teacher that focuses on student success. I adapt my style to the needs of student. I encourage a shared atmosphere of “I do, we do, you do” to build towards student independence. I focus on teaching the proper steps to succeed in math, focusing on the process rather than the result. I continue to reinforce concepts until my students feel comfortable replicating the process on their own.

Success Story

I was working with an at-risk student who was struggling to finish Statistical Reasoning to graduate in May. She was really demoralized and concerned she would not graduate on time. We set up a schedule for her to work with me 1-on-1 each week, working through her lessons and going through her notes every week. Through her hard work, she not only was able to graduate on time, but she earned an A in the class.

Hobbies & Interests

I am an avid baseball fan (Go Braves!). I have been a gamer for 40 years. I love to cook and grill in my outdoor kitchen. I really enjoy to read fiction of various types. Darth Vader is my favorite fictional character of all time.
