I am a certified mathematics teacher with more than 20 years of classroom teaching experience. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of the Philippines and have dedicated my career to helping students develop a strong understanding of mathematics. Throughout my teaching career, I have gained extensive experience supporting students with varying academic abilities, strengthening foundational math skills, and making challenging concepts easier to understand. My years in the classroom have equipped me with the ability to adapt my teaching approach to individual learning needs, helping students build confidence, improve their problem-solving skills, and achieve greater success in mathematics.
My tutoring style is encouraging, patient, and passionate, with a strong focus on helping each student develop a deeper understanding of mathematics. I adapt my teaching approach to each student’s individual learning needs, beginning by assessing their prior knowledge and identifying any misconceptions or gaps in understanding before introducing new concepts.
I use scaffolding and step-by-step instruction to break down challenging problems into manageable parts, gradually building students’ understanding and independence. I also believe in the importance of consistent review, guided practice, and reinforcement to ensure students fully master the skills we work on together.
My ultimate goal is to create a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, gain confidence in their abilities, and develop the skills they need to excel in mathematics and achieve academic success.
One of my favorite tutoring success stories involved working with a high school senior who was struggling significantly in both Math and Physics and was at risk of finishing his final year with disappointing grades. His school principal recommended me as a tutor, and we began working together midway through the semester.
With limited time remaining before the end of the school year, we committed to meeting four times a week for the remainder of the semester. During our sessions, I focused on strengthening his foundational understanding, breaking down challenging concepts, and building his confidence in both subjects. Through consistent practice, individualized instruction, and his own determination, he began making remarkable progress.
By the end of the semester, he had raised his grade from a D to an A- and earned the highest score on his final exam. Watching him transform from a student who was struggling academically into one who could confidently demonstrate his knowledge was incredibly rewarding.
This experience reinforced my belief that with the right guidance, consistent support, and a willingness to persevere, students can achieve extraordinary academic growth, even when they begin with significant challenges.
Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy expressing my creativity through karaoke, sketching, and writing poetry. I also love cooking and baking, especially experimenting with different recipes and creating delicious meals and treats.
