About Me

I am a certified educator with 11 years of experience teaching Mathematics and Science in both classroom and online settings. I hold a bachelor’s degree from CUNY York College and provide tutoring for students from Grade 7 through College II, helping them build strong foundational skills and academic confidence.

Tutoring Style

My tutoring style is student-centered, supportive, and results-driven. I break down complex Math and Science concepts into clear, manageable steps that build both understanding and confidence. I adapt my teaching methods to match each student’s learning style, whether they need structured guidance, visual explanations, or hands-on practice. I emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving skills so students can apply what they learn independently. Above all, I create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and growing academically.

Success Story

Math:

One of my students came to me struggling in Algebra II, feeling overwhelmed and on the verge of failing the course. After identifying gaps in foundational concepts, we created a structured plan focused on step-by-step problem solving and consistent practice. Over time, their confidence grew along with their skills, and they began completing assignments independently and participating more in class. By the end of the semester, the student raised their grade from a D to a solid B and expressed a newfound confidence in math that carried into their next course.

Science:

When Maya started tutoring with me in Grade 10, she was exhausted. She didn’t hate science but just felt defeated by it. Words like chemical bonding and balancing equations sounded like a foreign language. Labs made her nervous. Tests felt like traps. Her grades sat in the low 60s, and each new topic only seemed to confirm what she had started to believe: “I’m just not a science person.” So we slowed down. Instead of cramming formulas, we rebuilt her confidence from the ground up. We drew everything out. We used color-coded diagrams. We connected chemistry to everyday life and from there things that once felt abstract began to click. When understanding replaced memorization, everything changed for Maya. Within three months, her average rose from 62% to 88%. She started raising her hand in class and her lab reports became clear and confident. She earned one of the highest marks on her final lab assessment. The moment I’ll never forget wasn’t tied to a test but when she looked up after solving a problem on her own and said, almost surprised, “Science actually makes sense now.” By the end of the year, she enrolled in advanced science courses.
