I have been tutoring for almost 2 decades in math, chemistry, and ACT/SAT test prep. I was awarded STAR student for having the highest SAT score in school. I have a bachelors degree in chemistry from the University of Georgia and I tutor grades 5-college.

Tutoring Style

My tutoring style is highly interactive and student-centered. Rather than simply working out problems and showing students the answer, I focus on asking thoughtful, guiding questions that encourage them to think critically and engage with the material. I believe this approach helps students build deeper understanding, confidence, and independence in their learning. I adapt my methods to each student’s needs, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps while encouraging them to actively participate in the problem-solving process. Overall, my goal is not just to help students get the right answer, but to help them understand how to approach problems, develop strong reasoning skills, and become more confident learners.

Success Story

Charlotte began a 42-hour SAT preparation program with a baseline practice score of 1040 and a 150-point score-improvement guarantee. During our first eight hours together, we focused on identifying the patterns behind SAT questions and developing efficient strategies rather than simply working through problems mechanically. In Math, we practiced using Desmos strategically, recognizing efficient solution paths, and approaching unfamiliar problems systematically. We also worked on Reading and Writing skills, including punctuation, rhetorical synthesis, and time-management strategies. After our fourth session, Charlotte completed another practice test and increased her score from 1040 to 1210—a 170-point improvement, surpassing the program's 150-point guarantee after only eight hours of instruction. Beyond the measurable score improvement, Charlotte became more confident recognizing question types and approaching challenging problems with a clear strategy.

Hobbies & Interests

Outside the classroom, I like to be, well, outside. I backpacked through Mexico for three months, camping near Mayan pyramids, in rainforests, and on the beaches of Oaxaca. I enjoy wilderness camping and in summer will sometimes set up a mobile hotspot so I can continue tutoring while staying in a remote location. I love to explore the north Georgia mountains, spending time in streams and creeks. I recently added kayaking to my outdoor toolkit and I have subsequently planned additional kayak-based camping trips. In high school, I competed in the regional and state tennis finals. I also played soccer and was a member of the art club. In college, I joined the women’s ping pong team and Army ROTC. I also love to solve puzzles, anything from jigsaw to logic puzzles. Even my truck and moped are puzzles to be tinkered with. My primary passion both in college and now is beach volleyball.
