I have over 10 years of tutoring experience and have a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in Mechanical Engineering. This allows me to expertly tutor math and science topics. I have over 10 years of experience in both in-person and virtual tutoring, which has strengthened my ability to connect, communicate, and create meaningful progress for every individual I work with.
I’m committed to creating an inclusive learning space where every student feels seen, supported, and valued. I lead with empathy which always means meeting learners where they are and honoring the diverse experiences, backgrounds, and strengths they bring. By focusing on the foundational building blocks of learning, I help students gain confidence, develop essential skills, and set achievable goals that move them toward achieving their individual success.
Science: I once worked with a middle school student who was struggling in science and felt defeated and that they just “weren’t good at it.” Instead of jumping into tough material, we focused on understanding where their confidence had dropped, possibly where there were skill gaps. From there, we built a consistent routine, and met about 2 times a week for a few months. I approached every session with empathy, reassuring them that struggling was part of learning, not a sign of failure. Over time, their frustration shifted into curiosity, and by the end of the our sessions, they were not only passing but proudly engaging in class, which was evidenced by their teacher's feedback and their overall grade.
Math: I once worked with a student who was three grade levels behind in math and felt completely overwhelmed by numbers. We started by identifying the foundational gaps that were holding them back: basic operations, place value, and word problem steps. I met with this student once a week for several months, working on building their confidence and their approach of solving problems step by step. I remained empathetic and caring throughout, which won over the student to not feel as defeated by numbers and complex problems. Over the months, their confidence grew, their skills became solid, and eventually they caught up to grade level. The transformation came from patience, structure, and believing in their ability to learn as well as the student's dedication and commitment!
I like to do crafty things when not tutoring, like cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting, etc. I work out regularly, and run 5k's on occasion, usually the mud runs.
