I am a certified math teacher with more than two decades of experience teaching and tutoring students in grades 4–12. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and received my teaching credentials from the Texas Education Agency. While the majority of my teaching career has been spent in the high school classroom, I have extensive experience teaching and tutoring students from 4th grade through the college level, allowing me to support learners across a wide range of mathematical skills and academic needs.

Tutoring Style

I enjoy building strong relationships with my students and creating a positive rapport that helps them feel comfortable and supported. I believe this connection is key to helping students succeed both in the classroom and on standardized tests. A strong tutor-student relationship gives students the confidence to attempt challenging problems, ask clarifying questions, and learn from mistakes. I have worked with students of all abilities and learning styles, and I adapt each session to meet the student's unique strengths, needs, and goals.

Success Stories

One of my favorite success stories is about a student with dyslexia who was placed in my Algebra I class during her freshman year of high school. Math was her least favorite subject, and she initially lacked confidence in her ability to understand the material. Throughout the year, she made tremendous progress and developed greater confidence in her mathematical abilities.

The following year, she was ecstatic to join my Geometry class, and when I began teaching Algebra II during her junior year, her mother specifically requested that she be placed in my class again. By that point, her confidence had grown so much that she was peer tutoring classmates who were struggling with the material. I am incredibly proud to say that, years later, she is now a math teacher at her own alma mater, encouraging her students to develop the same confidence and achieve success in their studies.

Hobbies & Interests

When I am not tutoring, I enjoy a variety of activities. I love solving puzzles, including jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, Kakuro, and word puzzles. I also enjoy cross-stitching and crocheting, which allow me to create special gifts for family and friends. Most of all, I love spending time with my family, including my four grandchildren.
