I began tutoring and teaching math since 1985. I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Math, both from the University of Wisconsin, as well as a Ph.D. in Math Education from the University of Washington.
Subjects would also include Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus, AP Calculus as well as SAT math and ACT math. I have completed over 10,000 hours of one-on-one math tutoring with students ranging from kindergarten to university students.
Math is much more than a collection of rules and procedures. It is a form of reasoning. I like to help my students understand not only what the formula or procedure is, but also why it works, and how you can apply it. Helping students to appreciate the beauty and relevance of math has been a passion of mine for my entire career.
I tutor math levels ranging from elementary to college students.
I have helped hundreds of students prepare for the SAT and ACT exams during my career. Recently, I helped two of my students get into their dream school. Both of these students, one at Georgetown, and the other at Boston College, are preparing for professional careers and are doing well. I still keep in touch with both of them.
I enjoy history, genealogy, backcountry hiking, and woodcarving.
