For more than six years, I have been tutoring the SAT, college admissions mentoring, writing, Economics, Maths, and French. I have a bachelor's degree in economics and French from Columbia University, while tutoring kindergarten students to seniors in university.

Tutoring Style

I am a thorough and supportive teacher who believes in a comprehensive, personalized approach to tutoring. I prefer to take a strategic approach to exams and preparation, sharing the methods and tactics to build confidence and achieve all the student’s academic goals. I always aim to go at a pace such that students can have a strong understanding of the foundations, while applying a large collections of practice problems to ensure mastery of concepts. Lastly, I always aim to make sessions a back-and-forth, such that sessions are always engaging and useful for the goals of the student.

Success Story

Math:

For one year, I worked online with one middle school student in her Geometry class for school. I found this experience rewarding because initially she lacked self-confidence and was scoring around the C-grade range. I gradually built up her confidence by making the material seem similar to topics with which she was already familiar in real life, related to her experience in gymnastics for example. I also successfully made the sessions more engaging by pulling from my own experiences and engaging textbook and video explanations. After a few months of consistent preparation with a schedule that I had planned, the student began to move into the B-grade level on quizzes and exams. Then, when she was able to get an A- average at the end I was quite proud because the student not only had done well in her course material, but could also see the connections of Geometry with other math subjects, such as Algebra. Later on, she would use this knowledge in other areas of her academic career, doing well on the PSAT and ACT.

Economics:

One of my best success stories is when I worked with a college junior at NYU for more than a year with her advanced economics courses. Initially, she had a lack of understanding in foundational Macroeconomics and Microeconomics to apply in her advanced college-level economics courses. However, through consistent and thorough work, I was able to help her achieve a grade between A- and A for all four of her advanced college-level economics classes. She further cemented her belief also that she wanted to work as a businesswoman in venture capital. This experience was extremely rewarding because I played a significant in inspiring more confidence not only in her academic performance, but also in her professional development.

Hobbies & Interests

My main passions include traveling, learning languages, and chess. I have traveled to more than 45 countries, while I have lived in more than ten countries in my life for a prolonged period of time. I have an advanced level in French and Korean, an upper-intermediate level in Russian and Serbian, and upper-beginner in Levantine Arabic. Finally, I have competed for more than five years in competitive chess and still play online chess at an expert level.
