I am a certified teacher with more than 20 years of experience. I have a bachelor's degree in math education, a master's degree in education, and I'm certified in educational leadership in curriculum and instruction. I tutor grades 1-College.
I am an enthusiastic teacher, passionate about the topics I teach. I adapt my teaching style to the needs of my student, working at the pace of the student while reteaching if needed or presenting students will challenges as needed. I enforce the topics we learn together by reviewing them until the student is confident in their ability. I will spiral back to prior concepts the student needs, as well as prepare for future concepts.
One of my favorite success stories is of a student I had in 9th grade Honors Geometry. The year prior she was a virtual learner due to Covid and did not have the Algebra skills that are required to be successful in Geometry. She worked with me during homeroom 3-5 times per week to work on the basic skills she needed. While doing course selection for her sophomore year, she did not want to continue with Honors Algebra 2, because she knew her Algebra skills were not great. At the end of the year, we found out that I was teaching Honors Algebra 2 the following year, so she went to her counselor and had her schedule changed to be with me. She worked really hard, coming for help as needed and ended the year with an A in Honors Algebra 2.
I love roller coasters, gardening and spending time with my family. I am the mock trial coach for my school team as well as the National Honor Society Advisor.
