My name is Chelsea Robinson. I am an alumna of Wesleyan College and Mercer University, where both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees focused on Mathematics. Even before getting my bachelor’s, I began tutoring and sharing my love of math with anyone that would listen. To date, I’ve been tutoring for almost 16 years.

Tutoring subjects:

  • Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, Mathematical Reasoning, and SAT Math
  • Study Skills, Test Prep, and Logic

Ages I’ve worked with:

Elementary School, Middle School, High School, College, and Non-traditional Learners‍

‍My tutoring style:

Even though it has almost been 20 years, I remember my seventh grade math class like it was yesterday. Mrs. Crew’s math class was my favorite because we danced, sang, and participated in random activities to learn the concepts. If the 20+ math courses that I’ve taken since have taught me anything, it’s that you best learn in an environment where you feel safe, valued, and have fun.

Joining my sessions, students should come open-minded. Some sessions might be making music videos, coloring pictures, playing games, or so many more. Either way, our primary focus is learning. Through goal-setting and a growth mindset, greatness is our portion.

Success story:

I’ve honestly tutored more students than I can even remember over the last 16 years, but one student that has really stood out to me has become one of my mentees. Coming to my tutoring session in late October or early November, this college student had a 37 in her pre-calculus course. With missing several assignments and getting zeros on both tests, I knew that this student honestly had two attempts, including the final, to turn her F into a passing score. With weekly goal-setting, organization, individualized assessments, and homework checks, the student pulled her grade up to a C within a matter of weeks.

Hobbies and interests:

When I’m not teaching Robotics, Precalculus, or tutoring, you can find me watching Netflix, listening to vinyl on my record player, cruising Trulia/Zillow for a house that I can’t afford, restoring my 1954 Packard Super Clipper (I’m obsessed with antique cars), or walking my Olde English Bulldogge.
