I am a certified teacher in 5- 9 grade General science, 6 - 12 grade Mathematics and 6 - 12 grade Chemistry. I have been tutoring math for over 20 years including 4 years online. In the past, I also taught math at a drop out high school.
I am detailed oriented. I guide students through the math problems and show step by step solutions. I ask students a lot of questions to keep them actively involved in solving each problem. I am a big believer in note taking, visualizing and repetition.
A long time ago, when I still lived in the Czech Republic, I helped a sixth grade student to prepare for his summer exam. Summer exams are for students who failed one or two subjects in the second term or in the entire year. He was one of 7 students who failed that year, and he was the only one that failed in two subject (Czech and math) in both semesters. He ended up being the only student out of those 7 students that passed the summer exam. He also did so well in math, that his final grade went from F to C. The final grade was calculated as the average of the grade obtained during the school year and the grade in the summer exam, so getting a C was the best he could have done.
