I am a certified teacher with experience teaching grades 7-12, adult GED, and English as a second language. I have a Bachelor's in Engineering from Lafayette College and I tutor grades 9- adult.
My tutoring style is primarily student-centered and adaptable, focusing on breaking down complex mathematical concepts into simple, manageable steps. I prioritize building a strong conceptual foundation so that students don't just memorize formulas but truly understand the "why" behind every solution. By fostering a patient and encouraging environment, I help students overcome "math anxiety" and develop the independent problem-solving skills needed for long-term academic success. Every session is personalized to match each student’s unique learning style, ensuring they feel confident and supported as they work toward their specific goals.
One of my favorite success stories is when I helped a high school student with AP Precalculus. He was struggling severely with complex functions, so we met twice a week to rebuild his foundational skills. Through our consistent sessions, he transformed his frustration into mastery and raised his grade significantly. He eventually graduated and went on to be an IT professional.
I love playing soccer, basketball, and chess. I also mountain bike, climb mountains, go backpacking, travel around the world, and speak other languages.
