I am a certified teacher with 30 years in the classroom teaching math to a great variety of students. I have a Bachelor's degree from Southern Ct State University in Math, a Master's in Teaching Secondary Math from Quinnipiac College and Masters in Educational Leadership from Southern Ct State University. I have tutored students in all grades but have taught mostly from 6th grade to College level.

Tutoring Style

I am a determined, passionate and encouraging teacher. I believe that all students can learn and it is the teacher's responsibility to figure out exactly what teaching style works best for their students. I will teach in the styles that fit the students needs and adjust as necessary to ensure that the student is thoroughly grasping the lesson. I make sure that the student actually understands what they are learning so that they will have knowledge that will last a lifetime not just until the test.

Success Stories

I have many success stories tutoring students, but one that stands out for me was a young man who was having difficulty with Algebra 2 due to memory loss from a concussion. He had been given accommodations for his injury and worked very hard to study and do the wok but he had lost entire chunks of memory causing him to be unsure of the steps to solving the problems. He was looking at the very real possibility of not passing the course. We worked together every other day for about an hour and a half each session. Together we identified the concepts he already remembered and noted the gaps he had in his memory; we came up with strategies to help him reconnect his learning and he not only went on to pass but started earning A's where he had been earning F's.

Hobbies & Interests

I enjoy watching a different variety of sporting events, preferably live. I enjoy doing arts and crafts. I like to get out in nature and love spending time with my animals.
