I am a computer science and mathematics tutor with more than two years of experience supporting K–12 and university students. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics from Western Michigan University, graduating with a 3.73 GPA. I tutor a broad range of mathematics subjects, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics, as well as programming and computer science topics such as Python, C, R, SQL, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. My diverse academic background allows me to support students in developing strong mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and programming skills.
My tutoring style is structured, supportive, and individualized to each student’s unique learning needs. I break challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps and use guided problem-solving, targeted practice, and review to strengthen both understanding and confidence. I adapt my explanations and activities to each student’s learning style while encouraging them to think critically and independently rather than simply memorize answers. My goal is to create an engaging, inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, working through challenges, and developing strong problem-solving skills and academic confidence.
One of my most rewarding tutoring experiences was serving as a Learning Assistant and Supplemental Instructor at Western Michigan University, where I supported more than 360 students across Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I and II. I led structured review sessions, provided individualized problem-solving support, and helped students break down challenging mathematical concepts into more manageable steps.
Through these sessions, students achieved a 20% improvement in exam and quiz scores while also becoming more confident and independent problem solvers. Seeing students strengthen not only their academic performance but also their confidence and ability to tackle challenging material independently reinforced my passion for tutoring and helping students reach their full potential.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy traveling, cooking, reading, and gardening. I also enjoy exploring computer programming, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and emerging technologies. In my free time, I like solving mathematical and logical challenges and learning new skills that keep me curious, creative, and always growing.
