I'm a semi-retired teacher with two decades of experience. My career includes classroom instruction in the following: science education, driver's education, computer literacy, and career education. I have a multitude of experience with neurodivergent learners and learner specific strategies.
I am passionate about teaching and I bring that energy into my lesson planning and delivery. I use various strategies to meet the needs of my students to find a learning style that works for them.
In my time as a science teacher, I have spent much time preparing students for standardized testing. Often the students found my class difficult for 8th grade, but the curriculum was test driven. One year, I received an email from a former student thanking me for being so diligent about preparing them for testing. She had gone on to say that although eighth grade was tough, it laid a solid foundation that helped her high school. Feedback from students like that makes my career as a teacher even more rewarding.
I'm a hobbyist which is lost tradition. I quilt, scrapbook, and read.
