I am a certified college and online educator with more than a decade of teaching experience, instructing students of all ages in math, english, scientific writing, psychology, philosophy, humanities, and English as a Second Language (ESL). I hold a Master’s degree from Florida State University and work with students from 1st grade through college.
I focus on fostering a passion for mastery, intellectual curiosity, and deep critical thinking. Through the Socratic method, students learn to ask thoughtful, purposeful questions that help them better understand the why behind ideas and concepts. My goal is to help students refine their thinking, strengthen analytical skills, and make meaningful interdisciplinary connections that deepen their understanding across subjects.
One of my favorite tutoring success stories involved a university student who consistently struggled with scientific writing, particularly when developing a thesis statement and null hypothesis. Rather than simply correcting his papers, we focused on the logical foundations of hypothesis formation, analyzed examples from professional research articles, and explored how strong research questions lead to effective statistical testing. Over time, he developed a much deeper understanding of the relationship between research design, hypothesis testing, and scientific argumentation. By the end of the school year, his grades improved from consistent Cs to As, and he became far more confident in both his writing and analytical reasoning.
Math:
One of my most rewarding tutoring experiences was helping a high school student who was struggling with Algebra II and SAT Math preparation. When we first began working together, she lacked confidence and often froze when faced with multi-step equations, systems of equations, and quadratic functions. Instead of focusing solely on memorization, I helped her break problems into smaller patterns, explain her reasoning aloud, and connect concepts to visual and real-world examples. We also used active recall and error analysis to transform mistakes into learning opportunities. After several months of consistent work, her SAT Math score improved by more than 140 points. More importantly, she began approaching challenging problems with confidence and eventually started helping classmates during group work.
Social Studies:
Another meaningful experience was working with a middle school student who struggled in social studies because he viewed history as "boring" and had difficulty understanding the cause-and-effect relationships behind historical events. While studying topics such as the Industrial Revolution, colonialism, and the development of democratic movements, he tended to memorize isolated facts without grasping the broader themes. I shifted our lessons toward discussion-based learning, using primary sources, maps, political cartoons, and Socratic questioning to help him think critically about why events occurred and how they shaped societies. We also connected historical themes to modern issues and explored historical films and games to make the material more engaging. By the end of the semester, his grade improved from a C to an A-, and his teacher specifically noted how much more thoughtful, engaged, and analytical he had become in classroom discussions.
Outside of tutoring I enjoy going to the gym, beach, traveling, fantasy books like Lord of the Rings and Warhammer 40K. I love philosophy and the cultures of Greece and Asia.
