I am a mathematics tutor with almost two decades of experience. I have a bachelor's degree in mathematics as well as an MBA, and I tutor grades 6 through college.

Tutoring Style

I love mathematics and therefore try to get more students excited about it, or at least hate it a bit less, with every lesson I tutor. I have an adaptive style that changes to whatever best fits the needs of my students, using whatever speed or method is most effective for them. I reinforce the topics we learn through both repetition and increasing difficulty levels to ensure true mastery of the concepts. And if any gaps in their base knowledge are identified, I make sure we spend time filling those in to strengthen their foundation and set them up for success both short-term and long-term.

Success Story

One of my favorite success stories was a high school student who had always been a C/D student in math, and I helped her become an A student. I started working with her during her sophomore year, when she was retaking her freshman-year math course online because she had received a D. While working with her, it was clear she had two hurdles to overcome: significant gaps in her foundational knowledge and a general lack of confidence in her abilities. So, we met 3 times a week to fill in those gaps and build up her confidence. Accomplishing those goals allowed her to earn an A in her online retake class, as well as an A in the sophomore math class she was taking simultaneously. I continued to work with her until she graduated high school, but we only met once a week, mainly for ACT/SAT test prep, since she now had the ability to be successful on her own. She ended up going to a university to become a nurse.

Hobbies & Interests

While I'm not an old lady yet, I do tend to enjoy some old lady hobbies like crocheting, bingo, and reading. I also enjoy checking out new restaurants in my neighborhood, going on walks and bike rides, and trying out every boba shop I come across.
