I am a certified teacher with eight years of classroom experience, specializing in high school science. I completed my teaching certification through the Alternative Certification Program at Marshall University. I currently teach Biology and Earth Science, including Honors-level courses in both subjects. My classroom experience has given me a strong background in helping students understand complex scientific concepts, strengthen critical-thinking skills, and build confidence in science.

Tutoring Style

I am passionate about the subjects I teach and enjoy helping students develop a stronger understanding and appreciation of the material. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s individual needs, using clear explanations, thoughtful questions, and regular check-ins to ensure concepts are truly understood.

I like to begin by asking questions to determine what a student already knows and where additional support may be needed. From there, I can meet them at the right starting point and build their understanding step by step. My goal is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, strengthening their knowledge, and building confidence in their abilities.

Success Story

Throughout my teaching career, I have always made myself available to students who need additional one-on-one academic support, both in Biology and beyond my own subject area. Students know they can come to me when they are struggling, and I have had the opportunity to help them work through challenges in math, science, and other academic subjects.

Some of my most meaningful experiences have involved supporting students who were struggling to pass required math courses. By working with them individually, breaking down difficult concepts, and providing consistent encouragement, I helped several students successfully pass their courses and stay on track to graduate on time with their classmates. Knowing that students feel they can depend on me for support—and seeing that support contribute to their success—is one of the most rewarding parts of being an educator.

Hobbies & Interests

I enjoy spending quality time with my family, whether we’re camping, traveling, or simply relaxing together and watching our favorite shows and movies. I especially love watching my daughter play softball, and I also coach a travel softball team, which gives me another opportunity to encourage young people, build teamwork, and help them grow in confidence.
