I am a retired math teacher with many years of classroom experience, primarily teaching Algebra I to students in grades 6 and above. Since 2020, I have also worked as a private math tutor, providing individualized support to help students strengthen their skills and build confidence. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and tutor students from 6th grade through College Algebra. My extensive classroom and tutoring experience allows me to support students across a wide range of mathematical abilities and learning needs.

Tutoring Style

I believe math should be fun, engaging, and approachable. I like to think of math as a puzzle—there is always a solution, and discovering how to get there can be both exciting and rewarding. I adapt my teaching style to each student’s individual needs, breaking concepts down in ways that make sense to them and helping them discover strategies that work best for their learning style. My goal is to help students build confidence, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and develop a more positive relationship with math.

Success Stories

One of my favorite tutoring success stories involved a student I began working with during her freshman year of high school. She had ADHD and was struggling with Algebra, so we worked together to identify strategies that made challenging concepts easier to understand and less overwhelming. With consistent support and her own hard work, she went on to excel in the course and develop greater confidence in her mathematical abilities.

We continued working together throughout her high school years and into her freshman year of college math. Watching her grow from a student who struggled with Algebra into a confident, capable college math student was incredibly rewarding and remains one of the highlights of my tutoring career.

Hobbies & Interests

Outside of teaching, I enjoy golfing, crafting, and working on puzzles. I love activities that are creative, challenging, and involve a little problem-solving, which is probably one of the reasons I enjoy teaching math so much!
