I am a certified secondary mathematics teacher with more than a decade of experience teaching and tutoring math. Throughout my career, I have worked with students across a wide range of grade levels, from 3rd grade through the college level, giving me experience supporting learners at different stages of their mathematical development. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Pomona College and have also completed graduate-level coursework at the University of Minnesota. My strong academic background and extensive teaching experience allow me to help students strengthen foundational skills, tackle increasingly advanced concepts, and build greater confidence in mathematics.
My tutoring style is strategically adaptable and individualized to each learner’s needs. I take the time to connect with students one-on-one, get to know them personally, and understand both their perceived challenges and demonstrated areas for growth.
Using ongoing observation and data-driven planning, I identify specific skill gaps and provide targeted support designed to address them effectively. I am passionate about meeting students where they are academically while helping them make meaningful progress toward their individual goals. My goal is to help each student strengthen their mathematical understanding, build confidence, and achieve measurable academic growth.
One of my greatest tutoring success stories has been supporting a student’s mathematical growth over the course of more than three years. When we first began working together during his second year of middle school, he was struggling with both math comprehension and confidence in his abilities.
Through consistent, individualized support, we worked to strengthen his foundational skills while gradually developing the higher-order thinking and problem-solving abilities needed for more rigorous mathematics. Over the years, I have watched him become a more confident and capable math student, significantly improving his comprehension, test-taking skills, and willingness to tackle challenging material.
Today, he is preparing to take his first Advanced Placement (AP) course in the fall. Watching him progress from questioning his abilities in middle school to feeling ready for advanced, college-level coursework has been incredibly rewarding and is a powerful reminder of what sustained support and growing confidence can help a student achieve.
Outside of tutoring, I enjoy staying active through running and fitness, as well as coaching my high school’s cross-country team. I also enjoy reading and expressing my creative side through acting and singing.
