I am a certified teacher in the state of Florida with over twenty years of teaching experience in math and business. I have a master's degree from Nova Southeastern University and I tutor grades 6-12. I have taught several different math courses but my primary courses are Algebra I and Algebra II.

Tutoring Style

I believe that effective tutors meet students where they are academically. I try to attach concepts a student is familiar with to ideas they haven't grasped. When the student makes the connection between the two they have true understanding. My twenty years of experience has me convinced that students need to be actively involved in the learning process. I promote involvement by providing examples in a context that a student can relate, in an environment that makes them feel comfortable.

Success Story

One of my favorite success stories is when I helped a student who was failing Honors Algebra II at a highly ranked high school. She requested tutoring so that she wouldn't have to change her schedule and drop to a lower level course. By the end of the year she finished with a B average. She thanked me and said that hiring a tutor was the best decision of her academic career. She later asked me to help her prepare for the SAT in which she scored in the 95th percentile.

Hobbies and Interests

My favorite hobbies are golf, fishing, and working on my Mustang. When I'm not playing around outside I am watching Netflix and hanging out with my dog Layla. I also play video games from time to time but not as much recently.
