I am an experienced educator with more than 20 years in education, with much of my career focused on independent study and individualized learning environments. I currently teach 5th grade and am a certified teacher in both Nevada and California. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fresno State, which has helped shape my understanding of how students learn and develop. My broad educational background allows me to tutor students across grades K–12, adapting my approach to each learner’s academic level, individual needs, and goals.

Tutoring Style

My tutoring style is patient, supportive, and responsive to each student’s individual needs. I believe in meeting students where they are academically and adjusting the pace of instruction accordingly. I am always willing to slow down, repeat steps, and approach a concept in different ways until the student develops a strong understanding and mastery of the material. I also provide plenty of examples and guided practice, incorporating real-life scenarios whenever possible to make lessons more relevant and easier to understand. My goal is to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, working through challenges, and building confidence in their abilities.

Success Stories

One of my favorite tutoring success stories came from a math tutoring group I led at one of my schools. One student was struggling to understand graphing linear equations, so I created a large coordinate plane on the floor using masking tape. Each student physically took a coordinate position based on the equation we were working with, creating an interactive, visual representation of the graph.

This hands-on approach helped the student see how the y-intercept, slope, and individual coordinates all work together rather than viewing them as separate, abstract concepts. The activity helped solidify her understanding, and she went on to ace her unit test. Experiences like this reinforce my belief in finding creative, individualized ways to make challenging concepts meaningful and accessible for students.

Hobbies & Interests

My husband and I are looking forward to beginning an exciting new adventure in October: full-time RVing! We plan to travel throughout the United States, spending up to a month in different places so we can truly explore each area. Along the way, we also hope to give back by volunteering with various nonprofit organizations. We are excited about the freedom this new chapter will bring and the opportunity to experience new places, meet new people, and serve different communities.
