I am a dedicated tutor with over five years of experience helping students build confidence in math and science. I hold a bachelor's degree in Physics with a concentration in Astrophysics and have additional expertise in climate science, sustainability, engineering, and project management. I tutor K-College students, creating engaging and supportive learning experiences.

Tutoring Style:

I am an understanding and enthusiastic educator, passionate about exploring math and science concepts in a curious and approachable way. My teaching style emphasizes an assets-based approach that builds on learners' strengths, fosters active engagement through investigation and connection to the material, and reframes concepts to have cultural and personal relevance. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident, empowered, and excited to explore new ideas. By nurturing curiosity and confidence, I aim to help students develop a lasting appreciation for math and science beyond the classroom.

Success Story:

One of my favorite success stories involved a shy fifth-grade student who struggled with math confidence, fractions, and decimals, challenges that were intensified by the transition to remote learning. During our weekly sessions, I began connecting math concepts to the student's interests, including Spider-Man and superheroes, to make the material more engaging and approachable. The transformation was incredible. The student became comfortable explaining problems to classmates, reviewing previous concepts independently, and participating with greater confidence. By middle school, their teacher had noticed a significant improvement in both math proficiency and classroom confidence.

More recently, I worked with a seventh-grade student who had foundational gaps in math and lacked confidence in her abilities. Because our sessions took place after a long day of school and extracurricular activities, staying engaged was often challenging. I adapted our sessions to incorporate interactive learning through Blooket and Gimkit, along with low-pressure practice problems that allowed her to learn without worrying about speed or making mistakes. She went from arriving exhausted to genuinely enjoying our sessions. Her father later shared that my patience helped her break through the pressure and anxiety she associated with math, and she is now performing much better in her Math 3 class. This experience inspired me to incorporate strategic games and interactive activities into more of my sessions to keep learning personalized, engaging, and fun.

Hobbies & Interests:

When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy hiking, road-tripping, rock climbing, practicing yoga, and playing pick-up soccer with friends. In my free time, I love exploring creativity through various artistic mediums, including sculpting, crocheting, writing poetry, and learning music theory.
