I earned my B.S. from the University of Michigan and bring an adventurous spirit and deeply human approach to working with students. My life has been shaped by challenge, curiosity, and service, from biking across the country to support affordable housing, to captaining a boat in the Arctic, to contributing to disaster relief efforts. These experiences have strengthened my resilience, adaptability, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Tutoring Style

My tutoring style is highly reflective, collaborative, and personalized to each student. I work especially well with students who are open-minded, curious, or seeking to uncover deeper meaning in their experiences, including those with unconventional interests or stories they are unsure how to express. Rather than forcing students into a formula, I help them identify what already makes them compelling and teach them how to communicate it with clarity, authenticity, and a strong personal voice. I create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable thinking deeply, taking creative risks, and producing work that feels personal, genuine, and impactful.

Success Story

I'll never forget working with twin sisters in the same English class. Though they shared a classroom, their learning styles couldn't have been more different. One thrived on structure and clear expectations; the other preferred conversation, reflection, and brainstorming. As twins, they naturally compared themselves to one another. I tailored our sessions to each student's strengths while encouraging them to see each other as teammates rather than competitors. Over time, both grew more confident in their reading comprehension, annotation, vocabulary, and literary analysis. But the greater success was watching them realize that excellence doesn't follow a single path. The experience reinforced one of my core beliefs as a tutor: meaningful growth happens when students feel supported in becoming themselves, not pressured to become someone else.

Hobbies & Interests

I am an avid cyclist, snail mail enthusiast, and knitter of baby hats with extra-large pom poms. I have been to Space Camp twice, swum in the Arctic Ocean, and am always happy to talk about humpback whale songs.
